About
How to talk about myself… Hmm…
I was born in the south in the 70s, but formed by the north in the 80s. I got my first computer when I was 7, and loved drama, music and art at school. I think it’s fair to say that I did… okay… at school, as much in spite of the education system, as because of it.
I was not an especially rebellious person, but that was partly because rebellion seemed like a rich kids game. In the late 80s I discovered the rave scene, and somehow emerged from that in the mid nineties with a degree in Fine Art, and a specialism in digital, video & performance art.

Oh, hello! Nice to see you. Have we met somewhere before? You look awfully familiar… perhaps you know me from:
Twitter- I was @toychicken, but since Elon bought it, I decided to gradually leave. (Status, now 100% free of X). I’m now frequently on…- @toychicken@mastodon.socialmastodon.social - yes, I know it’s not the coolest instance, but I’ve got a lot on my plate. This is my social platform of choice, closely followed by:
- @toychicken.bsky.socialbsky.app - where I follow friends that don’t have a Fediverse presence. I don’t post much here, but I suspect I might more in future.
- I am on LinkedInwww.linkedin.com, but it’s all business there. It’s a good way to catch up with me if we’ve worked together in the past. (Or worked near each other). I will definitely get back to you if you connect, but sometimes it takes a while.
- Technically, I’m on Facebook and Instagram. I mean, I really don’t check these, and will probably permanently delete my Meta accounts soon.
- You can always drop me an email, I’m leigh@toychicken.co.uk
Honestly, I really like to talk on the phone or even a video call, but I guess we need to know each other a bit before I’ll give you my phone number. A browser-based video call is always good though!

Oh hey! It’s been a while. What are you up to these days?
Me? Well I’m still in Cambridgeshire, enjoying being out in the fens but not too far from the city if I want to get some culture. Dr G and Baby G are doing well, thanks. I don’t get to as many exhibitions and gigs as I’d like, but am loving spending time with the family in our ageing motorhome, and seeing lots of bits of the UK.
