Book covers
A while back, I gave myself the task of redesigning my website (again). Originally my vision was to re-create a whole load of vintage book covers specifically inspired by vintage penguin paperbacks.
Now I’m at the stage of feeling pretty pleased with what I’ve done so far, but before I go any further I need to start testing what I’ve built already. As ever, it’s only when you start to test that you begin to realise how many variations you’ve built into what feels like a relatively simple design system.

This layout style is inspired by really early penguin classics. It accepts all the theme colours, but doesn’t have a place to display an image.
If the author is not defined, the layout will display the official Chicken logo.

Can take quite long headlines, and other text elements. Simple .svg images work really well - especially things like clip art or cartoonos, but bitmap images don’t really fit the style very well, and may look squashed if they’re not square to match the available space.
